Come out and play!

We are honoured to be home of Ottawa's first and largest Pokemon Trading Card Game community, the Ottawa City Pokemon League. Thank you to the hundreds of players of have come out to play over the years and who keep coming to this day.

Open Free-Play League Days

Every Saturday afternoon you can come visit us at the store between 1pm-3pm to play, trade, chat, practice, strategize, or anything Pokemon. And the best part is that it is Free to participate and there is no registration required!

Our Tournaments

We run several different formats of organized tournaments to provide players with many exciting ways to enjoy the Pokemon Trading Card Game. Tournaments can also provide players a great opportunity to earn Championship Points.

Tournaments require player registration, and will have a fee that goes towards administration and prizing. Please check out the details of each tournament below and be sure to contact us to register your name for the event so we can save you a spot.  

Knowledge of the rules of the Trading Card Game is a must for participation in tournaments, be sure to check out the tutorials at the link to the right!

The Play! Pokémon program divides players into tournament groups based on the year they were born. These groups are the Junior, Senior, and Masters Divisions. Whenever possible, players are paired with other players in the same age division.

*Please note that we currently do not run any in-store Pokemon TCG events in December as it can get very crowded with Christmas shoppers.

League Challenge Tournaments

Earn Pokemon Championship Points by participating in our monthly League Challenge tournaments!

Registration: $6

Sign-in for League Challenge Tournaments is between 12pm-1pm and the tournament will usually run until about 3pm.

We run these in our store and space is limited to 25 participants.

The format rotates for these tournaments can be either Standard or Expanded. Please contact us to find out!

There will be prizing for the top performing players in each age division as well as some promo cards for everyone.

Pre-Release Tournaments

Be the first to try out the newest Pokemon Cards up to two weeks before the official release!

Registration: $35

Sign-in for Pre-Release Tournaments is between 12pm-1pm and the tournament will usually run until about 3pm.

We run these in our store and space is limited to 25 participants.

The format is limited. (Cards will be provided)

Each player receives 1 Prerelease Deck Box, which will contain the following:

  • 22 card evolution pack featuring key cards from current and prior sets
  • 4 Booster Packs of the new set
  • 1 of 4 alternate art promo cards
  • 1 Deck building tip sheet

Players will open the 4 booster packs and, along with the 22 card evolution pack, build a 40 card deck with a 30 minute time limit.

You may use only the Pokemon and trainers/supporters in the prerelease deck box that you open. No trading until after the tournament. One difference is that if you have more than four of a card you can put them all in your deck if you wish. After the players deck is built a tournament is played using the decks, with 4 prize cards and a 20 minute time limit.

All players who complete the event will receive 2 additional booster packs of the new set. There will also be even more prizing and promos for the top players in each division.

League Cup Tournaments

League Cup tournaments are similar to League Challenge tournaments, but only run once every 3 months and are worth almost 4 times more Championship points! 

Registration: $20

We will be hosting this event at Toys on Fire and space is limited so We will be running 2 separate tournament seatings split up by age group in the same day.

Masters (born 2001 or earlier)

Registration Time: 10am-11am
Tournament Time: 11am-2:30pm*

Juniors (born in 2006 or later) / Seniors (born 2002-2005)

Registration Time: 1:30pm-2:30pm
Tournament Time: 2:30pm-5:30pm*

The format for these tournaments is Standard.

There will be prizing for the top performing players in each age division as well as some promo cards for everyone.
