Otakuthon Recap

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

Otakuthon is now over, and boy did we have a blast! We saw some really great costumes this year, check out the photos below. We saw everything from Sailor Moon and Minecraft Creepers to TinTin and a guy Dressed as a Battleship!

This show keeps getting bigger and better each year with an increasingly growing number of attendees and A-list special guests. Look out Anime North because we have got the makings of a future contender here!

Also, it looks like we will be headed to the Montreal Comic-Con in September. The guest list includes Adam West and Stan Lee. Stay tuned for updates!

Anime North 2011 is on the Way!

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011
May 27, 2011toMay 29, 2011

It’s that time of year again! Anime North 2011 is coming this May 27-29 at the Convention Centre by the international airport in Toronto. Entry passes are available for order at the Anime North website. Toys on Fire will be there bringing lots of goods like Plushies, Jewelry, and Decorative Swords from all of your favorite Anime, Video Games, and Sci-Fi series.

For those of you who are interested in these topics, I highly recommend that you go one year and check it out. There are normally about 25000 people each year who make it, and a large portion of them get into some wicked costumes!

The schedule includes discussion panels with the industry, dance balls, live music and art shows, lan parties, and much more! It looks like this year there will be a performance by Japanese Elektro Punk Rock Band “The Fool”

Hope to see you guys there!

World spent 4.8 million hours playing Pac-Man on Google – and I was definately part of it!

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Check out the article below. This explains why that pizza you had ordered was late and the strange lack of telemarketing calls recently…

From: The Canadian Press, Tuesday May. 25, 2010 4:43 PM ET

Google Front Page Pacman Anniversary Game Web users may have spent the equivalent of about 4.8 million hours indulging in Google’s tribute to Pac-Man.

Productivity company RealTime estimates 4,819,352 hours were spent playing the classic video game on Google’s home page last week.

The search engine honoured the game’s 30th anniversary by offering web surfers a little diversion before continuing on with their regular searching.

RealTime says the average Google user searches for about four and a half minutes a day, leading to 22 page views.

But last Friday, the average user seemed to stay on the site 36 seconds longer, RealTime suggested in a blog post.

Although the Google version of Pac-Man was not originally supposed to be online permanently, it can still be played here.
