So apparently France has fast food. I thought it was all baguettes, wine and cheese over there! I’m kidding, I know no self-respecting person can say “Non” to a burger. They may wish they had once the regret sets in, but before that, fast food burgers seem like a good idea for everybody!

But back on track here: France-based burger chain, Quick, is putting out burgers as a crazy cross promotion for the 3D rerelease of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace in March. They’ve made 3, different burgers commemorating the different sides of the force, including a black-bunned Darth Vader burger! We’re overlooking the fact that Darth Vader didn’t really show up until Episode 3 because it’s got (what we hope is) a black-dyed bun! It looks slick!

Note that I said “slick” and not “appetizing.” Novelty food is just for fun! Anyone remember the green and purple ketchup? I liked the idea on paper, but I couldn’t bring myself to apply it to my own food.

Here’s hoping we get some sort of Star Wars novelty burger in the North America! The burger-force is strong with us!

We are only one week away from the 6th Anniversary Party!  That means:

• one week ’til Star Wars guys
• one week ’til the PS3 Draw
• one week ’til door prizes
• one week ’til huge sales
• one week ’til a special Beyblade Tournament
• one week since you looked at me
• cocked your head to the side and said “I’m angry.”
• thirteen years since that joke was relevant

Looks like The Living Sound System, after weeks of us begging and pleading, will NOT be joining us on our anniversary. Who knows, though, maybe Lou Le Blanc of The Living Sound System fame will show up to make some noise in front of the store.  And if we like what he’s playing, we may not call the cops.  WHO KNOWS, RIGHT?!

So yes, please join us next week on Saturday, July 16th for a massive celebration of all things Toys on Fire.  It goes all day, so as long as you show up between 10am – 6pm, you’ll be good!  See you there!

It’s time once again to introduce you to the Capital City Garrison of the 501st Legion – in other words, it’s the Star Wars guys! You may have seen them at our past events, or maybe you even got your picture taken with one of them. Guys such as Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Storm Trooper, Darth Maul, and many others. Here’s a blurb from their website that explains what they do much better:

The Capital City Garrison is the Eastern Ontario chapter of the 501st Legion, an all-volunteer international Star Wars costuming organization with more than 4,000 members representing more than 45 nations.

We are here to lend assistance to charities and provide smiles to those most in need. We offer support at charity events, fund raisers, and social functions by appearing as film-authentic Star Wars characters. While there is no cost to engage our services we encourage donations to charity on our behalf, such as:

• Children’s Wish Ottawa
• Max Keeping Foundation
• Ottawa Food Bank
• Children’s Miracle Network Canada
• Champions for Children Foundation
• Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation
• Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre

And we will be accepting food donations for The Barrhaven Food Cupboard, so bring your cans!

The Capital City Garrison will be making an appearance between 12:00PM and 4:00PM at our 6th Anniversary Party on July 16th, 2011.  These are some of the best costumes I’ve ever seen, so if you’re a big Star Wars fan, you got to come out and see them!

Your favorite Star Wars characters will be back at Toys on Fire for the Halloween Hootenanny! They’ll be staying from 10:00AM to 3:00PM, with a 1 hour break somewhere in between! I guess Darth Maul needs to eat more candy so that he can keep that beautiful smile of his!

Come get your picture taken with your favorite Star Wars guys, and finally explain to the Storm Troopers once and for all that these are definitely not the droids they’re looking for.

Hey guys, thanks to everyone who came to celebrate with us on May 7th and May 8th. We had nearly 90 people with us for Iron Man 2  and over 1000 guests to our 5th Anniversary Party on Saturday, May 8th! We all had a blast and hope you did too! We will cherish the memories forever in our hearts… and in these pictures below!  Some of them got posted twice!  We recommend making a matching game, or enjoying some photos twice as much for your viewing pleasure.  Hope to see you all again soon!

Toys on Fire is proud to announce the return (or “the revenge” if that’s cooler) of the March Break Mega-Bowl! Remember last year we had it at the movie theatre, and we had a bunch of Bakugan Tournaments? Well, this time we’ll be having a Bakugan Tournament AND the GoGo’lympics!

Pokemon and Hockey Card Trading Day

Resident Hockey Fanatic and Poke-Master Dang will preside over this event making sure that trades are fair!

Tuesday, March 16
Transformers 2 Tuesday
1:00 – 3:30PM
We will be showing Transformers 2 at the store, as well encouraging anyone to bring in some of their Transformers collection from home!

Wednesday, March 17
The St. Patrick’s Day Bakugan Mini-Tournament(s)
12:30 – 3:00PM
Two 8 person mini tournament will go down on St. Patty’s day. Registration is $4!

Thursday, March 18
Tracksters Demo Day
1:00PM – 3:00PM
Gray will have a computer set up to show what Tracksters were made to do! Race kids from around the world online!

Friday, March 19
Star Wars The Clone Wars Day
1:00 – 3:00PM
We will be showing the Star Wars cartoon The Clone Wars here at the store! Bring in your Star Wars figures and enjoy!

Saturday, March 20
The GoGo’lympics
1:00 – 3:30PM
We’ve never had a GoGo themed tournament before! You’ll play 5 different games out of the GoGo’s sticker book, and the people who do the best out of all 5 events will win Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Regristration is $4 and includes a free bonus GoGo’s Booster Pack!

Don’t forget, you can register for either the Bakugan Tournament, or the GoGo’lympics on any day between now and the event. Also, each day, we will have other activities for everyone to do on each day, so we’ll try to keep everyone entertained!
