Pokemon League – February 18, 2012

February 18, 2012
1:00 pmto3:00 pm

We are excited to (finally) announce a Pokemon event! We love Pokemon, you love Pokemon, so it’s about darn time. First and foremost, with the help of Pokemon Master Josh, the Pokemon League should be a good opportunity for people to learn how to play! Once you know how to play, you’ll be able to challenge people to friendly card games and win some prizes! The Pokemon League is run in part by the official Pokemon website, so you’re going to need to sign up with the Pokemon Trainer Club which you can either do ahead of time, or we’ll sign you up on the day at the store. We will be handing out Player ID cards at the event in order to help track your progress. There’s also opportunities to win prizes! The prizes are on a first come, first serve basis, but we’ll try to give as many out as possible. It’s set up to run on Saturday, February 18 here at Toys on Fire! Oh yeah, and it’s free to play! So come and check out Ottawa’s First Official Pokemon League!

Pokemon Emerging Powers

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

There’s a new Pokemon set just around corner and it’s called Emerging Powers and we just got the theme decks!  There are two different decks: One called Power Play featuring Krookadile and the other called Toxic Tricks featuring Scolipede!  Each of these are your normal 60 card decks with the handy-dandy list on the back that tells you all the cards included.  These decks are always perfect for those who wish to start collecting or wish to start playing.  Anyone who hasn’t given the actual card game a try, you should give it a whirl.  It’s not too hard and it might be able to teach you or your kids a thing or two about strategy!  The booster packs will be out soon too!

Otakuthon Recap

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

Otakuthon is now over, and boy did we have a blast! We saw some really great costumes this year, check out the photos below. We saw everything from Sailor Moon and Minecraft Creepers to TinTin and a guy Dressed as a Battleship!

This show keeps getting bigger and better each year with an increasingly growing number of attendees and A-list special guests. Look out Anime North because we have got the makings of a future contender here!

Also, it looks like we will be headed to the Montreal Comic-Con in September. The guest list includes Adam West and Stan Lee. Stay tuned for updates!

Hot Toys for Easter

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Dear Easter Bunny,

Here’s a list of some toys that are perfect for Easter:

Pokemon plushes and toys are always a good choice, especially with the new game that just came out.  The small plastic toys are a great alternative to hiding chocolate eggs!

This Webkinz rabbit comes with a Kinz Klip of a rabbit all for the regular price of a Webkinz!  Everybody loves savings, and this includes the Easter Bunny. There’s ton of bunny rabbits you can choose from too.

The NHL playoffs are going to start awful soon, and hockey cards are another great alternative to the chocolate.  We have a great range of hockey cards to fit anyone’s budget and any collector’s needs. Nothing says Easter like an autograph, a jersey card, or a rookie.

As well all know, lambs are just as iconic as bunnies for Easter, and you can get this one from Russ!  Russ has a bajillion other stuffed animals as well so you’ll be able to find that perfect stuffed animal.

Dice!  That very special nerd in your family would love to hunt around the house for some dice!  Get a 7-Piece set and make them find every die individually!  How cruel, yet fun.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas, Mr. Easter Bunny.

Sincerely,

Chris

P.S. – Chocolate would be good too.
