Risk: Legacy (It’s Crazy)

Thursday, November 24th, 2011

Guys, I didn’t realise what Risk: Legacy was all about, but it’s actually crazy.

You know how when you’re playing normal Risk, it’s the same thing every time?  You can count on certain cards to come up, or certain countries to be central to a winning strategy. Well, Risk: Legacy can change all of that. You see, Risk: Legacy remembers. It will remember that a country you decided to blow up in game 1 is still uninhabitable by game 4.  It will remember who betrayed you in game 3.  Certain cards will be lost over a number of games and certain cards will be gained.  By game 10, your board, factions, and cards will be radically different than game 1.

This is such a good idea.

We all knew Risk was fun, but it just didn’t have that element of depth that these newer games have integrated so well. Now I believe Risk: Legacy has a fighting chance at being in your permanent game roster, and not just be relegated to the nostalgia pile.

Oh yeah, and we have it in store right now.

Transformers Generations

Yeehaw! The new Transformers are here! I fee like they took a little vacation this summer, so it’s good to say they’re back. I really like how these look too, Drift especially. Just take a look for yourself:

Hasbro Toys and Paramount Pictures to make “Hasbro Factory” Movie. Wait, what?

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

If you thought all the upcoming movies based on toys and games were getting out of control with MONOPOLY, BATTLESHIP, STRETCH ARMSTRONG and the whole Target kids department, it looks like things are going to explode on screen like Christmas morning.

According to Pajiba, Paramount and Hasbro are working on something called HASBRO FACTORY, which is being described as A NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM set in (durhurr) a Hasbro Factory. The project is currently in search of a writer to play with.

It seems that although a number of Hasbro’s popular properties are already in the works as solo projects (or characters appearing in other movies, like Mr. Potato Head in TOY STORYs), the company still has countless minor brands that could be served by such a concept. Some examples of other names under the Hasbro umbrella: Barrel of Monkeys, Operation, Play-Doh, Jenga, Connect 4, Easy-Bake, Spirograph, My Little Pony, Mouse Trap and, perhaps most importantly, Hungry Hungry Hippos.

Hasbro also handles toys for big franchises like G.I. JOE, TRANSFORMERS, STAR WARS and Marvel, but it’s unknown if any of those characters would/could appear in the movie.
