Bakugan Tournament Episode IV: A New Harpus – Rules Changes
Alright, so some of you may be aware that Spinmaster (the company that makes Bakugan) have made some major changes to Bakugan since it’s inception. When Bakugan Series 2 came out, they redesigned the cards and added ability cards. So for the first tournament of the year, we’re switching from Series 1 rules to Series 2 rules. Here’s an outline of the changes:
- The object of the game is now to be the first to capture 3 gate cards (HSP will not count for points anymore on Series 1 cards, though they will still be valid to use for the tournament)
- We will be allowing the use of Ability cards, in fact it’s required to have 3 (1 of each colour).
- Bakugan can no longer be captured when winning a battle, instead they are moved to the used pile.
- The setup for 4 players will be changed (pictured below)

- If you roll a onto a card that already has a Bakugan you own on it, you move the Bakugan you just rolled onto the next closest card. (This will sometimes cause a battle to happen)
- If there are no other cards in play, you automatically get the gate card.
- There are no more missed rolls. If a player doesn’t land thier Bakugan, they roll again until they land on a gate card.
- If there are no cards in play, all players set another gate card down (following the above setup)
So there’s a summary of the changes between Series 1 rules and Series 2 rules. This will mean games will be going by faster, and those who don’t roll very well will have an easier time participating and still having fun. Don’t worry, before we start the tournament, we will be outlining the rules again!
