Comic Con 2010 Exclusives

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Thousands upon thousands of people showed up to the San Diego Comic Con and we totally weren’t there! Maybe next year. What we can do is look at all the pictures of all the exclusive figures!

These are the ones I thought were the coolest:

This Ninja Turtles Mouser Comiquette

This Undertaker figure that looks like Gene Simmons of Kiss.

Henchman 21 and 24. I know this says Entertainment Earth exclusive, but I just had to add it!

For some reason I find it bizarre that Spin Master got the Tron license, but I’m still psyched! The movie looks so cool!

Being a GI Joe and a wrestling fan, you have NO IDEA how much I want one of these. Sgt. Slaughter rules!

That’s all I could see that I liked enough to post, but there were plenty of other cool things too! I got all of the information from the Toy Anxiety blog, so go there to check out the rest! We’ll probably have access to a few of these as well if you see anything that interests you. Don’t be afraid to ask if we can get it!

Barrhaven Board Game Nights at Toys on Fire: Next Meeting Monday July 26th 6:30PM – 10:30PM

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Next Meeting: Monday July 26th 6:30PM – 10:30PM.

Games: We bring a different selection of games every night and also encourage attendees to bring in some of their games that they would like to get played. There is always a wide variety of options.

The Setup: Again we will have 4 large tables setup with potential seating for 16-20 people indoors.

Food / Drink: We have cold cans of pop and water bottles available for purchase as well as a large selection of assorted candy/gum for those who don’t want to bring their own snacks.

Bring Friends! Please invite friends and tell others about these events. We always love to see new faces and want to develop the size of the gaming community in Ottawa.

One final note: While we want as many people to play the games they want to play as possible, it does mean we may not have either enough interest or players to play certain games. If you come with the intention of playing a specific game, please do not be discouraged if we do not play it this time. We want everyone to have an open mind about trying new games they haven’t played before.

Hope to see you all There!

Please RSVP and let us know any questions/suggestions you might have in this thread.

Also a special thank you to those of you who show up regularly and help others to play games!

Terminator 2 is be Back Now

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

I love this movie! One of the few sequels that ended up better than the first, which was pretty hard to do in this case because of how awesome the first movie was. Terminator 2 (or T2 as its close, personal friends call it) was one of those special kinds of movies with cutting edge special effects, great cast and a (something that Avatar lacked) absolutely stellar story. Time travelling murder robot from the future sent to kill a young boy only to be saved by ANOTHER time travelling murder robot! Holy cow! I want to watch it right now! I guess I’ll have to settle for this new line of figures from NECA.

This series features 2 T-1000s (Galleria Mall, and Pescadero Hospital [complete with hand-hooks!]) and 2 T-800s (Steel Mill and Battle Across Time.) The T-1000 is a must for any Terminator fan. He’s so terrifying. Just look at him!

Oh, and watch this classic from Wayne’s World. It always cracks me up.

Gogo for Gold in Tournament 7!!!

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Because you asked, we’re announcing the seventh in the extremely popular series of Gogo Tournaments!  The promised day for this one will be Saturday, July 24th from 1 – 3:30 p.m., and admission is $5.00.  These tournaments area always popular, and always fill up fast so register early to make sure you get in!  As always each participant will need ten (10) gogos to compete, and there will be prizes for gogo prowess… so bring your A-game (and your B-ball, B-boy, or B-king) and come on over for an afternoon of Fun!

Tips & Tricks:

Every tournament we try to make sure that no gogo gets lost, but they do have a habit of disappearing.  Some of the best ways we’ve found to make sure your gogos go home with you are to make a unique mark in ink or marker (or even a tiny sticker) on your gogos so that you know which are yours, or if you don’t want to mark them (and you have lots) bring only one colour of gogos to make it easier to remember.

How do I improve my game? in most games, you can only play with ten gogos, but between games you can switch up the ones you use.  Why?  Because every game is different!  Take bowling and K.O., for example.  For both games you set up nine gogos on the field and throw a tenth.  In both games, the one you throw should be big and bulky, like Eco or Alkaline, but in bowling you want the other nine to have tiny feet like Cody, Angiru, or Dare so that they all fall down easier.  In K.O., however, if they all fall down easily, you’ll be out pretty quick, so you want ones with heavy bases like Eco or H-83.  Games like online, Target, or battle want a good mix of different types of gogos, so you can see what works best for you, because these games are all in how you throw (or flick) the gogo.  Try moving your gogos from different angles to try and get better results.  As long as you’re behind the line, it counts!  Our last game is different.  Top speed uses only one gogo to bounce around the race course in the fewest number of turns.  Check the stats in your gogo sticker book for a gogo that is really fast and bouncy (the blue and orange bars) if you want a top score in top speed!

Hey, it’s Eddie the Head!

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Just in time for the opening night of Ottawa Bluesfest comes another Iron Maiden figure! This time it’s Eddie from the cover of Piece of Mind! It actually won’t be out until August, but this is good timing on NECA’s part! Man, I’m so psyched for the show on Tuesday!
Flyyyyy on your WIIIIIIINGS like an EAGLE flies HIGH AS THE SUUUUN! So awesome!

It’s Thing!

Monday, July 5th, 2010

It’s clobberin’ time… on the delivery man’s back! I tells ya, this is a heavy action figure, but that’s how Marvel Select does it. They like their action figures to scale in size and weight, apparently. Once again, it looks pretty good, but the packaging is the same old, same old. I wish they would update it.

Oh well, it’s the figure that counts anyway. Take a look!
